What you’ll learn

This course is jam-packed full of insights to get you up-to-speed with the latest thinking on how to position yourself in this growing movement of business as a force for good.

It is designed to support the growth of your career as you transition to, or accelerate, your work in the climate and social justice space.

Led by Lucy von Sturmer, Founder of Creatives for Climate, the course is based on years of research and interviewing hundreds of ‘new economy leaders’ about how they’ve made positive impact through their work.

To date, this training has been taught in partnership with The School of Life, to clients such as Global Witness, and delivered to hundreds of individuals across the world.

It is a tried and tested approach to accelerating your impact within the growing movement of business as a force for good.

  • Silence is a risky strategy in today’s divisive landscape. In this module, you will gain the latest insights on the power of values-driven leadership. You will learn from five global leaders who will share their lessons with you, and receive prompts and inspiration to help you identify and define the values that will serve as the foundation of your personal leadership strategy.

    • The feeling of being an 'imposter' occurs when we feel like a fraud— and even talented and experienced individuals doubt their expertise at various stages of their career. In this module, you will begin to tackle any limiting beliefs that are holding you back. You will hear from change-maker Melissa Mbugua to share a different perspective on finding your voice, especially when not everyone in the room comes from the same background as you.

    • “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.” In this module, you will learn how to position your experience, and your voice, as an ‘expert’ by discovering your unique attributes, and defining your key messages. We will tie it all together into an effective personal pitch that you can use when presenting your expertise.

The course is made up of four modules with instructional videos, real-world examples and practical activities to allow you to immediately implement your learnings to shape your career as a change-maker.

This course is available on the Creatives for Climate Hub, on-demand and self-paced to suit your schedule.

The four step framework contains a step-by-step guide with videos, workbooks, examples and a virtual classroom to guide you for support.

It covers 43 lessons and over 5 hours of video content and can be taken over the course of four weeks requiring no more than two hours each week to complete.

The course will be available for 6 months.

    Lucy is a Guest Lecturer at The Erasmus University Rotterdam, Amsterdam Fashion Institute, The Hague International University and Co-Host of The 'How to Net Zero' Podcast produced by global impact verification organization SustainCERT.

    This course is designed and delivered by The Humblebrag’s founder, Lucy von Sturmer - it's the blueprint for the success of her clients, but also her own.

  • Melissa Mbugua is a trailblazer in innovation and social change across Africa and beyond, boasting a 10+ year career working for some of the world’s largest innovation organizations, as well as leading her own.

    In 2012 Melissa joined Nairobi’s leading creative tech and innovation hub, and this same year completed a degree in Development Management from The University of Birmingham. In 2014 she joined innovation company Ushahibi, whose technology played a key role in democratizing elections, and from there, joined global programme ‘Making All Voices Count’ working alongside international funders such as US AID, UK DFID, Open Society Foundation and Omidyar Network - managing a grant portfolio of $1 US M.

    After three years as a global innovation engagement officer, Melissa launched her own creative consulting company, MNM Consulting, to collaborate with entrepreneurs, private and public institutions to unlock the potential of Africa's creative economy. Today, she is also Co-Founder of Africa Podfest, and Jury Member of D&AD Awards.

    Based in Kenya, Melissa’s work has involved seeding civic technology innovation in Africa and Asia, accelerating creative and cultural industries in Africa and catalyzing the next generation of media companies. Melissa is a world-renowned impact strategist and social entrepreneur - she brings an inclusive intersectional approach to driving change and will be giving a guest lecture during the Positioning for Purpose on-demand training.

  • We want to ensure this training is accessible not only to those who have the support of their companies, but also for the individual creatives who are wanting to upskill for the climate.

    Therefore our individual/freelancer pricing is for those who are paying for their own place to join this training in order to ensure it is more accessible.

    Our company/agency pricing is for those whose company is paying for them to participate or whose company has signed them up for this training.

  • We weclome a global audience to this training, however, all modules, live sessions and supporting materials are provided in English. The video lectures are in English and have the option to slow down, pause, or replay.

  • No specific skills are necessary. This training is developed for anyone to learn about personal branding, values-driven leadership, and how to stand for change. Both for emerging, and existing leaders.

  • Yes! This training is designed to help you identify, define and communicate your purpose no matter if you have a clear idea of what it is or have no idea yet!

  • You will receive access to all learning modules as soon as you purchase the on-demand training. The exception is when the training is in pre-sale, in this case you can find the dates the training will be available on this page.

  • It’s up to you to decide how much time you want to dedicate to the training. We recommend allowing between 3-5 hours per week to complete the online modules, complete the work and engage in the community.

  • When you enrol in the On-Demand training you will have access to the online learning modules for a period of six months. Please email support@creativesforclimate.co if you need longer access.

  • Yes! The On-Demand Training option is designed to allow you to complete the training at your own pace. You will receive prompts via email for the first five weeks of access to help you stay accountable to complete the training.
